FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT ARE THE PAYMENT OPTIONS?

We accept credit card, debit card and paypal, this can be done through this website. Bank transfer is also available, just need to request our details at time of sale. We also will consider payment plans on certain animals but that will need to be discussed before purchase.

WHERE DO YOU FREIGHT TOO?

Due to Australia's strict laws on importing and exporting reptiles we are not able to supply our animals internationally or to Western Australia or Tasmania. There should be no issues with freight to any of the capital cities as flights are currently regular but please get in contact with us if you are wishing to have animals freighted to a regional airport.

WHAT PAPERWORK DO I NEED TO PROVIDE?

As part of purchasing an animal through us we are required to view your wildlife license. This is so we can apply for export permits here in the NT. Also many jurisdictions require the license to be sited before a transaction can occur. Please email a copy of your licence to sales@coldbloodedcreatures.com.au along with days you prefer for freight to occur.

WHAT DO I DO WHEN I GET MY ANIMAL?

When you get your animal it is best to already have a enclosure set up ready for the new addition. Usually I find with small hatchies the smaller the enclosure the better and plastic containers with lockable lids work the best. The plastic doesn't lose heat like glass does and the lockable lids prevent escapees. Along with the enclosure it is recommended a heat source such as a heat cord/mat, a thermostat to control the enclosure temperature and a temperature gun to check the temps.

It is also recommended that the new animal go into a quarantine  process. At CBC we have a strict quarantine process where the new animal(s) are placed into a separate area and quarantined for 12 months. This area is in a different room to the main or hatchie area.

CAN ANYONE PURCHASE ANIMALS?

In the majority of states you will need a wildlife keeping permit to keep native wildlife before you purchase animals. In the Northern Territory animals can be purchased by someone without a licence as long as they apply for a permit to keep wildlife within 7 days after purchasing the animals. Please refer to your local authority regarding licencing. There is a link at the bottom of this page to all state licencing.

Note: Please be aware that not all animals are available in all states and some may require specialist or higher level of wildlife keeping licence e.g. South Australia requires specialist licence to keep pygmy pythons. Please refer to your local authority to verify if the animal can be purchased.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY ANIMAL?

Once you have purchased your animal(s) through the website you will receive an email with your purchase details. Please allow for several business days to reply to your purchase. Within this time we will contact the pet transport company to get a final quote and an estimated shipping date. Once we confirm with you a freight date suitable for you we will book the flight through a pet transport company. We will also apply for an export permit from the Northern Territory. This typically takes a week. All up It will be approximately 2 weeks from the time of purchase to the time of delivery.

Please refer to our Freight information page for a step by step guide to how freight works.

HOW MUCH DOES FREIGHT COST?

Cost of freight depends on the weight and size of the container sent. Currently freight is organised through a pet travel company who will use Qantas Freight as a service. As a general rule if the animal(s) are hatchies you can fit up to 2-3 hatchies into a xs container. The weight of this will be under 1 Kg and cost between $101-$121 to freight to major airports. The cost of freight will increase with the increase of animals or the weight of the animals.

Note: Sending on to regional airports will also have additional costs.
